Examination Details

Alabama requires candidates to pass both written and practical examinations. The written exam covers:

  • Sanitation and sterilization
  • Hair services and chemical treatments
  • Skin and nail care
  • Alabama laws and regulations

Reciprocity

Alabama offers reciprocity for cosmetologists licensed in other states who meet equivalent requirements. If licensed for less than five years, additional examinations may be required.
