Can You Take the RRB Group D Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Age
Lower age limit is 18 years; the upper age limit (typically 18-33 for unreserved, with relaxations) is specified in the relevant CEN and is subject to category-based relaxation.
Education
Pass in 10th (Matriculation) or ITI from a recognised institution, or equivalent, or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Experience
No prior work experience is required for Level 1 (Group D) posts such as Pointsman, Track Maintainer, Assistant, and Assistant Loco Shed.
Background Check
Document verification and a medical examination as per Indian Railways standards are conducted in the final stages of selection.
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates must qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature.
  • Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness standards for the applied post.
  • Marks are normalized across multiple exam sessions for shortlisting.
  • Indian nationality (with eligibility conditions as per the CEN) is required.

The CBT is conducted afresh for each Centralised Employment Notification. Candidates who do not qualify, or are not reached on the merit list, apply again when the next RRB Group D recruitment is notified.
