Can You Take the MS RE Salesperson Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •30 hours of post-license education required within the first year of licensure
- •16 hours of approved CE required for each 2-year renewal; MREC-designated required subjects may comprise no more than 8 of those hours
- •Must affiliate with a licensed Mississippi broker to activate salesperson license
- •Out-of-state licensees may apply for Mississippi license through reciprocity procedures
- •Rule 3.4 requires accepted-contract earnest money to be deposited by close of the next banking day; the July 2026 statute separately defines reasonable time as close of business two banking days after possession
- •MREC 'Working With a Real Estate Broker' form must be provided before any substantive discussions

Retake Policy
Retake only the failed portion. Both portions must be passed within the same 2-month eligibility period. The state portion may be attempted only twice in that period; after two state failures, a salesperson candidate waits 3 months and reapplies. A candidate who has passed state may continue retaking general during the same eligibility period. PSI does not permit booking the new appointment on the same day as a failed attempt.
