Can You Take the KY Electrician Exam?

No diploma requirement in KRS 227A.060; an electrical associate degree or diploma program can substitute for 4,000 hours of experience
Experience
8,000 hours of verifiable electrical experience since age 16; one approved substitute, such as an acceptable electrical training course or an electrical associate degree, can replace 4,000 of those hours
Additional Requirements
  • •Submit the DHBC electrician application with the $100 two-year license fee
  • •Pass an approved journeyman exam (ICC 703 through Pearson VUE, Prov, or NASCLA) with at least 70%; a passing score stays valid for 3 years
  • •Bring only the permitted references: the 2023 NEC plus Ugly's for ICC 703, or the 2017, 2020, or 2023 NEC plus Ugly's for Prov
  • •Renew every two years by the end of your birth month, with 6 hours of continuing education for each year
