How do the ID Electrician vocabulary games work?
There are 4 games built on 20 ID Electrician terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.
Where do the ID Electrician terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Idaho Electrical Board / Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
How hard is the Idaho journeyman electrician exam?
The Idaho journeyman electrician exam is a demanding open-book code exam: 100 questions in 270 minutes, with a minimum passing score of 75. Code questions use the 2020 or 2023 NEC. The Idaho Electrical Board does not publish a pass rate. Fast NEC navigation and confident load, ampacity and motor calculations matter more than memorization.
What NEC edition does Idaho use for the electrician exam?
Idaho has adopted the 2023 National Electrical Code with state amendments in IDAPA 24.39.10.600. The current PSI candidate bulletin (effective December 10, 2025) lets journeyman candidates bring NFPA 70 in the 2020 or 2023 edition, or the NFPA 70 NEC Handbook of either edition, and says code-based questions use only those editions.
