Can You Take the AK Electrician Exam?

8,000 hours of qualifying electrical work experience documented on Experience Verification Forms or by sworn affidavit from an Alaska-based union official
Additional Requirements
  • Submit the Certificate of Fitness application with experience documentation to Alaska DOL Mechanical Inspection (mi@alaska.gov)
  • Allow 7-10 business days for packet validation before an exam is scheduled
  • Test at a division office in Anchorage, Juneau or Fairbanks on the first or third Wednesday of the month, or through an approved job center proctor or Alaska-based union hall
  • Pay a $50 nonrefundable application fee and a $200 journeyman certificate fee to the State of Alaska
