Can You Take the FL 6-20 Adjuster Exam?

18 years or older
Education
No prelicensing education is required if the applicant sits for the state examination. F.S. § 626.221(2)(j) waives the examination for any of twelve department-approved adjuster designations (ACA, AICS, AIC, CA, CALA, CCA, CACP, PCA, PIC, PPIA, RCA or UCC), and § 626.221(2)(h) adds the CPCU. The same subsection also waives the examination for a degree including at least 18 credit hours of property, casualty, health and commercial insurance instruction under § 626.221(2)(i), for a former Florida all-lines adjuster who reapplies within 48 months of the cancellation or expiration of the prior appointment under § 626.221(2)(e), and for a license transfer under § 626.221(2)(n) and § 626.292 by an adjuster licensed in another state for at least one year who applies within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident.

Additional Requirements
  • An active appointment is required for the license to be usable, and the license expires if the licensee remains unappointed for 48 months under F.S. § 626.431(3)
  • An adjuster license may hold only one appointment at a time, and an individual may not hold both an all-lines and a public adjuster license under F.S. § 626.864
  • 24 hours of continuing education every two years due by the end of the birth month: a 4-hour update course specific to the license held plus 20 elective hours under F.S. § 626.2815
  • Notification to DFS of any change of address, email or telephone number within 30 days under F.S. § 626.551
