State and FBI fingerprint background check through IdentoGO for first-time resident applicants, taken after filing the application and receiving LDI instructions
Additional Requirements
  • Pass the PSI Series 204 Property and Casualty Adjuster examination with a score of at least 70%
  • Apply through NIPR or LDI Industry Access and pay the $75 license application fee
  • Acknowledge the 22 claims adjuster standards of conduct in R.S. 22:1674.1 at licensing and at every renewal
  • After the first renewal, complete 24 hours of approved continuing education every two years, including 3 hours of ethics, with 2 hours of legislative updates required starting with July 2027 renewals (R.S. 22:1673)

Candidates who fail the PSI Series 204 exam receive a diagnostic report and may schedule a new attempt by paying the $36 exam fee again. PSI does not allow rebooking on the same day, and the candidate bulletin sets no limit on retakes.
