Additional Requirements
  • Sales agent license is non-renewable — must upgrade to Associate Broker license within its 2-year term
  • Associate Broker requirements: 2 years active sales-agent experience (within the prior 5 years) + 60-hour broker pre-license course
  • 21 hours of CE every 2 years for renewable broker tiers (includes 3-hr mandatory core course: 'Reasonable Care and Diligence Core Course', effective April 1, 2025)
  • Renewable broker licenses run 2 years and expire on the anniversary of the original license issuance
  • Must affiliate with a Designated Broker to activate license
  • No formal reciprocity, but an out-of-state licensee with a current active license may qualify by passing only the 40-question Maine Law portion (national portion and 55-hour course waived)
  • Real Property Transfer Tax: $2.20 per $500 (or fraction), split equally between buyer and seller
  • Facilitator role does NOT carry automatic confidentiality — must be agreed in writing
