Alloy steels (SAE 4130/4340) and their heat treatment (annealing, normalising, hardening, tempering, case hardening); aluminium alloy designations (2024, 7075), temper codes (T3, T6, T73), clad sheet, titanium and magnesium; testing for hardness, tensile, fatigue and impact
Fibre types (carbon, glass, aramid/Kevlar), thermoset and thermoplastic resins, honeycomb sandwich construction, ply orientation, defect detection (delamination, disbond) by tap test, repair awareness, and transparencies (acrylic/polycarbonate)
Corrosion types (galvanic, intergranular, exfoliation, stress, fretting, pitting, filiform), causes and contributing environment, detection, removal with approved non-ferrous methods, and protection (anodising, cadmium plating, chromate conversion coating)
