Two rules easy to forget:
- IPC 605.5.1 Mechanically formed tee fittings — a collared branch outlet formed in copper tube with an approved tool is permitted, but the joint shall be brazed. A soldered mechanically formed tee is not code compliant.

The practical corollary: copper male adapter screwed directly into a galvanized fitting is a defect waiting to happen, and it fails 605.23.1 on its face.
