Can You Take the RCES Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Age
Education
High school diploma or GED is required for every pathway. RCES4 requires graduation from a programmatically accredited electrophysiology program; RCES5 requires a non-accredited EP program with at least one year of specialty training and 800 clinical hours; RCES235 requires a certificate, degree or post-secondary health-science program.
Experience
RCES1 requires two years of full-time or full-time-equivalent work experience in diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac electrophysiology. RCES235 requires one year of full-time EP experience earned after graduation.
Additional Requirements
  • Supporting documentation is pathway-specific: employment verification letter (RCES1, RCES235), student verification letter (RCES4, RCES5), and clinical experience letter (RCES5)
  • Applications are submitted through the CCI MyAccount portal; CCI reported 30-45 business day processing as of July 2025
  • An Authorization to Test opens a 90-day eligibility window, extendable once by 90 days
