The AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Endorsement is an open-book code-application exam for Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) and Senior Certified Welding Inspectors (SCWI); candidates seeking CWI may also take it as their initial Part C codebook exam. The English exam has 50 scored multiple-choice questions plus 5 unscored pretest items, with 135 minutes to answer, at a Prometric test center using an electronic copy of AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2025.
