Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) content outline
Kanji reading (hiragana/katakana conversion), orthography (writing words in kanji or kana), contextual word selection. Tests approximately 800 N5-level vocabulary words and 100 basic kanji.
Grammatical form selection (particles, verb conjugations, adjective forms), sentence construction/reordering (★ star-mark questions), and text-flow coherence questions.
Short passage comprehension (~80 characters), medium passage comprehension (~250 characters), and information retrieval from practical materials such as notices, menus, schedules, and advertisements.
Task-based comprehension (listen to dialogue + select image/action), key-point comprehension (identify critical information), verbal expressions (matching audio to illustrations), and quick response (choose appropriate short reply).
