- (c) Flammable chemicals must be stored away from potential sources of ignition. Acetone, isopropyl alcohol, and many acrylic liquids are flammable. Ignition sources include open flame, a lit candle at the table, a space heater, a smoking area, a sparking motor, and a UV/LED lamp used as a makeshift bottle warmer. Close the acetone jar. Do not store bulk acetone on a hot water heater.
- (d) Chemicals which could interact in a hazardous manner such as oxidizers, catalysts, and solvents, must be stored per manufacturer's instruction. Nail chemistry still uses this trio. Peroxide-type oxidizers, catalyst systems in some wrap or gel chemistries, and solvents such as acetone do not all belong in one milk crate "because they are nail products."
- (e) Store chemicals so as to prevent fire, explosion, or bodily harm, and in accordance with the manufacturer's directions. Tight lids, upright bottles, secondary containment for bulk solvent, and out-of-reach of children in a personal-services setting are the practical reading.
WAC 308-20-110(5)(b) then requires chemical, flammable, toxic, or otherwise harmful waste to be disposed of in the manner required by local hazardous waste management regulations.
