Can You Take the Rhode Island CNA Exam?

  • Must pass within 1 year of beginning training program
  • 3 attempts allowed to pass both portions
  • After passing, listed on Rhode Island Nurse Aide Registry maintained by RIDOH
  • 120-day (4-month) grace period to work while awaiting certification
  • Renewal every 24 months with verification of at least 8 hours paid nursing-related employment
  • Reciprocity available for out-of-state CNAs with active certification and good standing
