Frequently Asked Questions
Is the WI Electrician vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How do the WI Electrician vocabulary games work?
There are 4 games built on 20 WI Electrician terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.
Where do the WI Electrician terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
Which NEC edition does Wisconsin use for the electrician exam?
The 2023 NEC. DSPS lists the 2023 National Electrical Code or Handbook as the codebook allowed in the exam, and SPS 316.007 adopts the 2023 edition, with Temporary Interim Amendments and Errata issued before January 1, 2025, effective September 1, 2026. Confirm the reference list on the DSPS Journeyman Electrician exam page before testing.
Does Wisconsin have reciprocity with other states?
Wisconsin lists reciprocity pathways for Iowa and New Hampshire on DSPS Form 3106. Each pathway has its own licensing, experience, and education conditions, so holding either state license does not by itself guarantee Wisconsin eligibility.
