Can You Take the Maine Notary Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Must be Maine resident OR New Hampshire resident regularly employed in Maine
- •Must demonstrate proficiency in English language
- •Must be recommended by a registered Maine voter who can attest to applicant's ability
- •Cannot have had notary commission revoked for misconduct in any state within past 5 years
- •No surety bond required (unique - most states require bond)
- •Must appear before Dedimus Justice to take oath within 30 days of appointment
- •Must return completed certificate to SOS within 45 days of appointment
