Quick Answer: For promotion to SSgt and TSgt, AFI 36-2502, 2 July 2026, Table 2.4 awards a maximum of 100 SKT points, 100 PFE points, 25 decoration points, and 285 Enlisted Performance Brief (EPB) Promotion Recommendation Score (PRS) points. SKT and PFE are percent correct to two decimal places. Dual testers need at least 40 on each exam and 90 combined. PFE-only testers need 45 (treated as 90 when doubled). Time in grade (TIG) and time in service (TIS) are eligibility rules, not Table 2.4 weighted factors.

Airmen compete under WAPS in the control AFSC (CAFSC) held on the promotion eligibility cutoff date (PECD). AFPC applies the quota inside each promotion AFSC and selects from the highest score downward; ties at the cutoff promote.

What Table 2.4 counts—and what it no longer counts

Older WAPS briefings treated TIG and TIS as point piles. Table 2.4 does not. They still matter as Table 2.1 eligibility: SSgt needs a 5-skill level, 6 months TIG, and 3 years TIS; TSgt needs a 7-skill level, 23 months TIG, and 5 years TIS. If you are eligible, those months do not add Table 2.4 points.

Note 1: cutoff scores after the second decimal place. Do not use the third decimal place to round up or down. A computed 79.996 is not 80.00.

Pearson VUE still says PFE points equal the number of correct responses out of 80. Table 2.4 says percentage correct, maximum 100. 64 of 80 correct is 64 ÷ 80 = 80.00 PFE points, not 64 points. Trust Table 2.4 for WAPS math and Pearson VUE for the 80-item length.

If you are SKT exempt, you compete in the CAFSC you possess on the PECD. PFE-only scoring uses the 45-point minimum, and that PFE percent is doubled to a combined equivalent of 90.

Test floors: 40, 50, 90, and 45

When you take both exams, Table 2.4 requires 40 on the SKT, 40 on the PFE, and 90 combined. Note 2: an Airman who scores the minimum 40 on either test must score at least 50 on the other. Forty plus forty is 80 and fails the combined floor. Score 39.99 on either exam and you are a promotion non-select even if the other exam is 99.00. Decorations and a Promote Now EPB do not rescue a failed test floor.

PFE-only testers need 45.00. Doubling 45 produces the same 90 combined equivalent dual testers must hit. PFE-only is not half the pressure: your PFE percent does the work of two tests.

NCO scenario. SrA Jordan scores 41.25 SKT and 47.50 PFE (combined 88.75). Both tests cleared 40, but 88.75 is below 90, so Jordan is a non-select. SSgt Patel, PFE-only, scores 44.75—below 45—and is a non-select. The floor is 45.00, not 44.99.

Decorations: 25 points and PECD closeout

Decorations cap at 25 points. Note 3: the decoration must have a closeout date on or before the PECD, and the Given Under my Hand date must be before the cycle’s public release date.

Three Air Force Commendation Medals and two Achievement Medals equal 3 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11 points. Extra medals past 25 do not create a 26th point.

EPB Promotion Recommendation Score

Rule 4 awards a maximum of 285 points from up to three EPBs in the current grade. Add the recommendation values when two or more EPBs exist in that grade. Only evaluations from the grade’s promotion-eligibility period count. Eligibles must have an EPB closing within one year of the PECD; missing it means supplemental consideration after closeout, not a zero-filled 285.

AFI examples: first-time eligible with an MP = 220. Second-time eligible with MP then P = 220 + 10 = 230. Third-time eligible with MP, P, P = 220 + 10 + 5 = 235. A SSgt testing for TSgt with PN current, MP previous, and P oldest scores 250 + 15 + 5 = 270. Maximum is 250 + 20 + 15 = 285. NRN adds nothing.

EPB/PRS can outweigh SKT and PFE combined (285 versus 200), but fail the 40/90 or 45 floor and the 285 is never used.
