Enroll in and complete a New York State-approved nurse aide training program (minimum 130 hours). Programs offered at hospitals, nursing facilities, community colleges, and vocational schools throughout New York.

  • Must pass both Clinical Skills exam AND Written/Oral exam through Prometric
  • First-time tester fee: $115 (written + skills) or $135 (oral + skills with reading comprehension)
  • Retake fees: $68 (skills), $57 (written), $67 (oral)
  • Employers must recertify and pay renewal fees ($40) for employed CNAs
  • CNAs not employed by approved employer within 24 months must retest or retrain
