HIPAA Privacy and Security, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, CLIA, DEA scheduling, advance directives, informed consent, mandated reporting, and scope of practice (16% of exam).
Pharmacology and General Medical Knowledge
Drug classes, generic and brand names, dosage calculations, six rights, IM/SC/ID injection angles, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and disease recognition (14.4%).
Medical Administrative Duties + Practice Tests
Scheduling, EMR, peripheral devices, telephone techniques, CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS coding, prior authorizations (12%), then full-length timed practice exams.
Can You Take the NCMA Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Current student in an NCCT-authorized Medical Assistant program, OR
- •Graduate of an NCCT-authorized program within the past 5 years, OR
- •Practitioner with at least 1 year of full-time verifiable MA experience within the past 5 years, OR
- •Qualifying military medical service (active or veteran with 1 year experience), OR
- •Current MA instructor with at least 1 year of teaching experience
