12.3 Sports Facilities, Exercise Equipment, Golf, Boating, Fishing, and Shooting Facilities
Key Takeaways
Each area of sport activity must be on an accessible route; team or player seating needs at least one wheelchair space, and court sports need an accessible route connecting both sides of the court.
At least 5 percent, not less than one, of each type of bowling lane must be on an accessible route, and at least one of each type of exercise machine must be on an accessible route with a clear floor space.
Accessible boat slips follow IBC Table 1111.4.9.1 (1 for 1 to 25 up to 12 for 901 to 1,000), with 60-inch clear pier space and 60-inch openings every 10 feet of pier edge.
At least 25 percent of fishing pier railings are 34 inches maximum high, with edge protection of a 2-inch curb or a 12-inch extended deck with toe clearance.
Golf routes are 48 inches wide (60 inches with barriers) or golf car passages; at least 50 percent of miniature golf holes are accessible and consecutive; 5 percent of each type of firing position is accessible.

Technical (A117.1 1007): on playing surfaces, routes may cross 1-in. curbs 32 in. wide, slopes of 1:4 for 4 in. of rise, 1:20 landing slopes, 48-in. landings and 48 x 60 in. turning landings, without handrails; a 48 x 60 in. start-of-play clear floor space at 1:48; ball-rest areas within 36 in. of a clear floor space 36 x 52 in. (new; 36 x 48 existing) at a slope of 1:20 or less.

At boat launch ramps, at least 5 percent, not less than one, of boarding piers are accessible.
Technical Criteria (1003)

- Clear pier space 60 in. wide for the full length of the slip or boarding pier, with a continuous clear opening of 60 in. in each 10 ft of pier edge (36-in. wide segments 24 in. long allowed between 60 x 60 in. segments; edge protection up to 4 in. high and 2 in. wide allowed at openings).
