Measures understanding of spoken English as used in colleges and universities. Practice should cover short conversations, longer campus exchanges, announcements, academic talks, main ideas, details, speaker purpose, attitude, inference, reference, and common idiomatic meaning.
Measures recognition of standard written English grammar and structure. High-yield skills include sentence completion, subject-verb agreement, verb tense, passive voice, relative clauses, noun clauses, modifiers, parallelism, word form, articles, quantifiers, and error recognition.
Measures comprehension of academic and campus-style written English. Level 2 explicitly includes Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension. Practice should include main idea, detail, inference, reference, organization, rhetorical purpose, negative factual questions, summary, sentence meaning, and vocabulary in context.
ETS lists a separate TOEFL ITP Speaking test with one read-aloud task, two independent speaking tasks, and one integrated speaking task. This MCQ bank focuses on the Level 1 and Level 2 multiple-choice sections rather than productive speaking responses.
