Reading
Vocabulary, daily-life texts, academic tables, and academic passages measure word meaning, similar-word recognition, main ideas, details, inference, table interpretation, true/false/not-stated reasoning, organization, and sentence meaning.
Writing
Build a Sentence, Write an Email, Describe a Photo, and Write for an Academic Discussion measure sentence construction, grammar, tone, purpose, elaboration, cohesion, register, and response effectiveness. The official test includes either Describe a Photo or Write for an Academic Discussion, not both.
Speaking
Read Aloud, Listen and Repeat, and Virtual Interview measure intelligibility, pacing, pronunciation, meaningful phrasing, accurate repetition, direct answers, relevant elaboration, conversational repair, and communication in daily-life and campus situations.
