Can You Take the NV General Contractor Exam?

Experience is primary qualification; accredited technical training may substitute for up to 3 years of trade experience upon Board approval
Background Check
Fingerprints for a state and national (FBI) criminal history check are required with the application
Additional Requirements
  • •Surety license bond under NRS 624.270 ($1,000 to $500,000, set by the Board) or an equivalent cash deposit
  • •Pass the Nevada Contractor Management Survey (CMS) business and law exam administered by PSI (60 scored items, 120 minutes, 45 correct to pass)
  • •Pass the PSI Class B General Building trade exam (80 questions, 3 hours, 56 correct to pass), unless the Board waives it, for example for a passing NASCLA accredited commercial building exam
  • •Nevada industrial insurance (workers' compensation) under NRS Chapters 616A to 616D before employing workers
  • •Financial statement under NAC 624.593: self-prepared for a limit of $25,000 or less, CPA-compiled for larger limits, and CPA-reviewed or audited for a limit of $1,000,000 or more
