645.5 — Supply Circuits and Interconnecting Cables
645.5 permits alternate wiring methods inside IT rooms, including under raised floors: Type DP (plenum) cables, interconnecting cables, and power cables listed for IT use. Branch circuits to IT equipment may use flexible cords and cables. Under-raised-floor wiring must be listed for the environment and routed to avoid physical damage.
645.10 — Disconnecting Means
A single disconnecting means for all electronic equipment in the IT room must be provided, controlled by group shutdown. It must:
- Be located in a readily accessible location adjacent to and accessible from the principal exit door(s) of the IT room.
- Open all ungrounded supply conductors to the IT equipment.
- Have a remote shutoff located at the principal exit.
Class 2 and Class 3 Circuits Inside the IT Room
