Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official American Heart Association (AHA) content outline
Compression rate 100–120/min, depth 2–2.4 in, full recoil, compression fraction, switching compressors every 2 minutes, AED use, and minimizing interruptions
VF/pVT vs asystole/PEA, biphasic defibrillation energy, epinephrine 1 mg every 3–5 minutes, amiodarone 300 then 150 mg or lidocaine, and reversible causes (H's and T's)
Symptomatic bradycardia, atropine 1 mg every 3–5 minutes to a maximum 3 mg, transcutaneous pacing, and dopamine or epinephrine infusions
Stable vs unstable, synchronized cardioversion energies, adenosine 6 then 12 mg, vagal maneuvers, and antiarrhythmics for wide- and narrow-complex tachycardia
12-lead ECG within 10 minutes, STEMI recognition, chewed aspirin 160–325 mg, reperfusion goals, and door-to-balloon/door-to-needle times
Stroke scales, last-known-well time, non-contrast CT to exclude hemorrhage, fibrinolytic window, blood pressure targets, and stroke time goals
Targeted temperature management, SpO2 92–98%, normocapnia, hemodynamic support, emergent PCI, and delayed multimodal neuroprognostication
Bag-mask ventilation, supraglottic and advanced airways, waveform capnography/ETCO2 interpretation, and ventilation rate with an advanced airway
