Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official College Board content outline
One literary set (4 questions), one informational paired set (4), and 12 discrete items, covering Information and Ideas (7-11), Rhetoric (7-11), Synthesis (2), and Vocabulary (2-4). Scored 200-300.
Five passage sets of five questions each, split between Expression of Ideas (14-16 questions) and Standard English Conventions (9-11 questions). Scored 200-300.
Five equally weighted areas at 3-5 questions each: whole number operations, fraction operations, decimal operations, percent, and number comparisons and equivalents. Scored 200-300.
Ten areas including rational numbers, ratio and proportional relationships, exponents, algebraic expressions, linear equations and applications, probability and sets, descriptive statistics, and geometry. Scored 200-300.
Eleven areas including factoring, quadratics, functions, radical and rational equations, polynomial equations, exponential and logarithmic equations, geometry, and trigonometry. Scored 200-300.
A 300-600 word essay scored holistically 1-8 (WritePlacer) or 1-6 (WritePlacer ESL) across six dimensions: Purpose and Focus, Organization and Structure, Development and Support, Sentence Variety and Style, Mechanical Conventions, and Critical Thinking.
ESL Language Use, ESL Listening, ESL Reading Skills, and ESL Sentence Meaning, each computer adaptive and scored on a 20-120 scale separate from the Next-Generation 200-300 scale.
