Frequently Asked Questions

Who can become an aspirante in San Luis Potosí?

Potosino citizens with five years' residence in the State, a law cédula and professional experience, and two uninterrupted years of notarial practice under a State notary (or a registered postgraduate specialty in notarial law), among the other Article 16 requirements. Since December 2024, final convictions for family violence, gender-based or sexual crimes, and unpaid maintenance debts are also disqualifying.

How are the exams graded?

After both tests, the three jurors give one grade in closed session, by consensus or else by majority. The minimum is 80 on a 0–100 scale; in the oposición the highest score wins, and the jury's decision admits no appeal (Article 25).

What happens after failing, and is there another route to a notaría?

A candidate scoring below 80 must wait at least six months before sitting again (Articles 22 and 25). An adscrito who has served uninterruptedly for the last two years replaces a departing titular without an oposición (Article 15).

Is the exam available in English, and what does this bank cover?

No. Both exams are held in Spanish. This bank is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or format simulation. It keeps the Spanish legal terms and reviews the rules behind the drafting and oral tests.
