About the Notario Jalisco Exam
Independent practice for Jalisco's notary exams by OpenExamPrep. In Jalisco, a law graduate first obtains the patente de aspirante through a written exam (100 multiple-choice questions and a drafting test, 80 points to pass), and then competes for the fíat when the Executive declares a notaría new or vacant, in a written test of 50 multiple-choice and 50 open questions. This bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or format simulation. It is built on the Ley del Notariado del Estado de Jalisco, its Reglamento on patents, and the federal company, tax and anti-money-laundering rules notaries apply, keeps the Spanish legal terms, and does not simulate the drafting test or open questions. Its topic split is our own study allocation, because no official weights are published.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Jalisco patente de aspirante exam structured?
Under the Reglamento de la Ley del Notariado en Materia de Otorgamiento de Patentes, it has two written tests: a theoretical test of 100 multiple-choice questions answered in no more than two hours (40% of the grade) and a practical test drafting a project of notarial instrument, chosen from three options in a sealed envelope, in three hours (60%). The candidate attends without documentary or technical support, and 80 points out of 100 are needed (Law, Articles 16 and 17).
How is the fíat awarded?
When the Executive declares a new or vacant notaría, aspirantes have at least thirty business days to register, and the exam is held within the following thirty days. A three-member jury applies a written test of 50 multiple-choice and 50 open questions in up to three hours. Only grades of 80 or more pass, the best grade wins, and ties are re-examined within sixty natural days.
What happens after failing?
A candidate who fails, or does not appear without justified cause, may not request a new exam until 24 months have passed from the date set for it (Law, Article 19; Reglamento, Article 62). No recourse lies against the jury's grades.
Is the exam available in English, and what does this bank cover?
No. The exams are held in Spanish. This bank is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation that keeps the Spanish legal terms. It helps you review the law behind the Spanish multiple-choice, open-question and drafting tests, but it is not an official translation and does not simulate them.
