About the Notario Puebla Exam
Independent practice for Puebla's notary exams by OpenExamPrep. Under the Ley del Notariado para el Estado de Puebla, as reformed in 2022 and 2024, lawyers aged 28 to 60 with five years' residence and practice take the aspirante exam; aspirantes then compete in oposiciones for vacant or new notarías, three per notaría, needing at least 8/10. Auxiliar and suplente patentes follow their own exams. This bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or format simulation. It is built on the state statute and on federal company and anti-money-laundering rules, keeps the Spanish legal terms, and does not simulate the drafting test or the oral exam. Its topic split is our own study allocation, because no official weights are published.
Exam sponsor: Dirección General del Notariado, Consejería Jurídica del Estado de Puebla. The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.
Assessment
Puebla has three exam types (Article 53): aspirante; suplente and auxiliar; and oposición for titular. The Dirección General del Notariado notifies the aspirante exam date within 15 business days of a complete application, and the exam follows within 30 business days. In every exam, the candidate chooses one of twenty sealed topics prepared by the Dirección General and approved by the Consejería Jurídica, writes the work in up to three hours with laws and books, and is questioned by the jury (a president named by the Governor, two Consejería officials and two notaries). Aspirantes are approved or failed by unanimity or majority; a majority fail means a six-month wait, a unanimous fail one year. In the oposición, three candidates compete per notaría, each juror awards up to two points, and the winner needs at least 8.
Time Limit
Up to three hours for the practical test, then the oral test
Passing Score

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply for the Puebla aspirante exam?
Mexican lawyers aged 28 to 60 when applying, with five years' residence in Puebla, a law degree with cédula and five years of practice, six months of uninterrupted notarial practice (or qualifying experience), recent courses and the other Article 55 requirements. The application goes to the Dirección General del Notariado, with a copy to the Colegio.
How are the exams graded?
Aspirantes are approved or failed by the jury by unanimity or majority; failing by majority means a six-month wait and failing unanimously a one-year wait (Article 63). In the oposición and the auxiliar exam, each of the five jurors awards up to two points, and 8 out of 10 is the minimum (Articles 61 and 64). There is no appeal against the jury's decision.
What are Notario Auxiliar and Notario Suplente?
An auxiliar, proposed by a titular with ten years of practice and no sanctions, must have spent ten years in that notaría and pass an exam with at least 8; they act in the titular's protocolo with the titular's seal. A suplente wins an exam among aspirantes and covers a titular's temporary absences, also with the titular's protocolo and seal (Articles 58 Bis and 59).
Is the exam available in English, and what does this bank cover?
No. The exams are held in Spanish. This bank is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation that keeps the Spanish legal terms. It reviews the rules behind the drafting test and the jury's questions, but it is not an official translation and does not simulate them.
