When does the IPMC become enforceable law?

Frequently Asked Questions
Which exam and code cycle does this flashcard set cover?
This set covers the national ICC Exam 64, Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, using the latest offered 2024 code cycle. ICC also offers a 2021 code-cycle version, so candidates must select the intended year when purchasing the exam.
Is ICC Exam 64 being retired because of the new Code Enforcement credentials?
No. ICC states that the Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector (64) exam and certification are not being retired. The newer Code Enforcement Technician and Code Enforcement Officer credentials are separate additions to the credentialing program.
What is the ICC 64 exam format?
The national exam has 50 multiple-choice questions, a two-hour limit, and an open-book format. For the 2024 cycle, ICC's official preparation materials identify the 2024 IPMC, 2024 IRC, and Legal Aspects of Code Administration, 2017 edition, as references.
What score is required to pass ICC Exam 64?
National ICC certification examinations use a scaled passing score of 75. This is not the same as saying exactly 75% or 38 of 50 questions; scaled scoring accounts for differences among exam forms. Passing candidates receive PASS rather than a numerical score.
What is the ICC 64 exam pass rate?
ICC does not publish a current first-time or overall pass rate for Exam 64. Percentages from third-party prep providers are estimates and should not be presented as ICC statistics.
What is the ICC certification-exam retake policy?
ICC currently allows six attempts at a national certification exam within a six-month period, with a new fee for each attempt. There is no separately published waiting period after one failure or after the third failure, which is why both numeric wait fields are 0. After six attempts, the candidate must wait until six months have elapsed from the first attempt before registering again.
How long is the ICC 64 certification valid?
ICC certifications are valid for three years and must be renewed with the CEUs shown for the credential in the holder's myICC account. ICC audits renewal submissions, so credential holders should retain supporting records for claimed education.
How is the official ICC 64 outline weighted?
The official outline assigns 22% to Administration and Legal, 14% to Light, Ventilation and Occupancy, 14% to Fire and Life Safety, 6% to Mechanical, 10% to Plumbing, 8% to Electrical, and 26% to Property Conditions. This 50-card set follows those percentages exactly.
