Can You Take the Utah General Contractor Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •General liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 each incident and $2,000,000 total, covering the scope of work performed and naming the Division as certificate holder (Utah Admin. Code R156-55a-302d, aggregate lowered from $3,000,000 effective June 25, 2026)
- •Workers' compensation certificate, or a Utah Labor Commission coverage waiver if the applicant has no employees
- •Registration in good standing with the Department of Commerce, Division of Corporations and Commercial Code, Workforce Services Unemployment Insurance, the State Tax Commission, and the IRS
- •Pass the Utah Contractor Business and Law examination with a score of 70% or higher
