  • •The assessment, or an accepted exemption, is required before an ECS card is issued or renewed
  • •Taken online through MyECS or the Employer Portal with remote invigilation, or at an assessment venue (paper-based through the SJIB in Scotland)
  • •A pass is valid for 2 years, within which you must apply for or renew your ECS card; otherwise the assessment must be retaken
  • •Listed qualifications issued within the last 3 years (such as CITB SMSTS or SSSTS and NEBOSH certificates) give an exemption; the CITB (CSCS) operatives' test is not accepted
