3. The Practical Test (Stage 2)

Candidates who pass the written test are invited to a practical test on a wired electrical installation mock-up not exceeding 45 kVA containing several deliberate electrical faults. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify non-compliance with the codes of practice and to troubleshoot common faults — new cable colour code errors, wrong circuit or colour-code labelling, open circuits, short circuits, wrong phasing, and wrong polarity.

4. The Technical Competency Assessment Interview (Stage 3)

6. Application Process and Fees (ELISE)

  1. Prepare documents: photo ID (passport size); NITEC or other academic certificate; preparatory course certificate (if applicable); testimonials from current/previous employers or the project LEW. Applicants aged 65 or above need a medical Certificate of Fitness from a registered medical practitioner. Self-employed applicants must have up-to-date MediSave contributions (or an active GIRO arrangement) before EMA will issue the licence.
