Written test: overall 50%, provided the candidate also scores at least 75% in Section E (Regulation). Successful written candidates then take a practical test and technical interview.

Application fee S$50 (non-refundable); licence fee S$30 upon approval. Separate prep-course fees (if used) are charged by training providers.
Exam Fee
Prerequisites: NITEC (or acceptable qualification) plus ≥2 years relevant practical experience in Singapore; or ≥10 years relevant experience; or ≥5 years experience plus an EMA-approved preparatory course (e.g. SIPG EN032); or legacy PUB electrical contractor registration before 1 Jan 1975.
Valid for: Written-test pass is valid for 3 years; the Electrician licence must be obtained within that period or the written test must be retaken.

Electricity Act and Regulations20%

Electricity Act Part 9; Electricity (Electrical Installations) Regulations; Electricity (Electrical Workers) Regulations; LEW classes, responsibilities, connection/modification/testing duties, and licence scope for Electrician (≤1000 V / 45 kVA).

Domestic Installations18%

Domestic wiring, distribution boards, socket and lighting circuits, 30 mA RCD/RCCB protection, colour coding, and small-installation practice under SS 638.

Industrial Installations18%

Industrial LV installations within Electrician scope, motor control, switchboards, load segregation, and industrial protective arrangements under SS 638.

Protection Against Electric Shock and Earthing14%

Basic and fault protection, direct/indirect contact, touch voltage concepts, RCCB sensitivity, TN-S and TT systems used in Singapore, bonding and extraneous conductive parts.

Installation Design, SLD and Cable Sizing12%

Single-line diagrams, maximum demand, protective-device selection, cable sizing with correction factors, voltage-drop limits, and circuit segregation for installations up to 45 kVA.

Testing and Commissioning10%

Visual inspection, continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth-loop impedance, RCCB tests, phasing, and post-turn-on checks before energising.

Temporary Installations (SS 650)8%

SS 650 Part 1 construction/building sites and Part 2 festive/trade-fair installations, including SOA use, 30 mA protection, and temporary generator earthing.
