Why Jobs Matter in Employee Central

Several EC features are only half-configured until a job runs. Scheduled Job Manager (Admin Center)

Scheduled Job Manager lets customer administrators create, manage, and monitor some job types without contacting Product Support. It has these tabs:

• Job Scheduler: Create Job Request with a job name, job type, job owner, occurrence (one-time or recurring), start date and time, and notification recipients. Owners can receive e-mails when a job starts, fails, or completes, and can opt out for non-system jobs. From the Actions column you can Run It Now, Cancel, or Edit a request.
• Job Monitor: check status, View Details, and download results. For example, import validation results appear here, and the Job Type menu lists the monitorable job types.

Limits to remember:

• Scheduled Job Manager does not support terminating or interrupting jobs.
• Available actions vary by job type. Some types can be created but not run immediately. Others can only be monitored after being set up in Provisioning.
• It is not a full replacement for Provisioning. SAP keeps adding job types, but some remain Provisioning-only.

Managing Job Scheduler (Provisioning)

In Provisioning > Managing Job Scheduler > Manage Scheduled Jobs, Provisioning users can create, manage, and monitor scheduled jobs for all job types. Customers have no Provisioning access, so they ask their implementation partner, or Product Support for non-implementation tasks.

Employee Central Jobs to Know

Import and export jobs also appear in the Job Monitor. After Import Employee Data or Import and Export Data runs, you check the validation or import result there and download the status file.

The Execution Manager

The Execution Manager Dashboard shows the status of scheduled jobs and integrations so you can find and troubleshoot errors quickly. Choose a time frame of the past 24 hours, 7 days, or 15 days to see successes and errors. Logs are retained for 15 days by default, and older logs are removed automatically.

On the Scheduled Job tab, MONITOR lets you filter by Process Definition Identifier (for example refreshRbpModel), open Event Details, and download the event log as a CSV. MANAGE NOTIFICATION lets you create e-mail notifications for chosen process states, such as Completed Successfully or In Progress, for a process definition.

Practical Pattern

1. Create the job request in the right tool (Scheduled Job Manager if the type is supported there).
2. Use Run It Now for a test run where the type allows it.
3. Verify the outcome in the Job Monitor, then investigate errors in the Execution Manager.
4. For recurring EC jobs such as reminders or alerts, choose a daily recurrence unless the design says otherwise.
