15.2 Where to Look Up a Feature

Key Takeaways

  • SuiteAnswers is the self-service support site, and the October 2024 sample places New Release Notes there rather than in user provisioning, the end-user license, or that account's File Cabinet usage.

  • Help Center user guides, the table of contents, and field-level help are the task documentation; the SuiteAnswers Learning Center is the on-demand training library.

  • The NetSuite User Group, reached from the Support tab and at the Oracle NetSuite community, is for discussion among users.

  • SuiteIdeas, opened from the Support tab, is where a user with the NetSuite Support Center role votes for or files an enhancement.

  • status.netsuite.com reports service interruptions and outages, while SuiteApp.com is where administrators browse SuiteApps to install.

Match the resource to the job

The exam objective is knowing which NetSuite resource answers which kind of question: help, functionality, SuiteApps, enhancements, best practices, and user discussion. The resources sit next to each other on the Support tab and in the Help Center, and the trap is using one for another job. Help is the task documentation. SuiteAnswers is the self-service support site. The Learning Center named in Getting Help is the SuiteAnswers Learning Center, the on-demand training library. The User Group is discussion. SuiteIdeas is enhancement voting. SuiteApp.com (suiteapp.com) is where you browse SuiteApps to install. status.netsuite.com is service status. A release note, a status incident, a user-group thread, an idea, and a SuiteApp are five different artifacts.

SuiteAnswers, Help, and the Learning Center

You open SuiteAnswers only while logged in to NetSuite. Use the SuiteAnswers link on the Help Center toolbar, or in the user interface choose Support > Go to SuiteAnswers. The same action is the Go to SuiteAnswers button in the SuiteAnswers portlet on the Support tab. If that portlet is missing, choose Personalize Dashboard and add SuiteAnswers from Add Content. The employee record must contain a first name and a last name. A missing name produces an error instead of the site. Employee Center, Customer Center, Vendor Center, and Partner Center roles do not receive the portlet, so those users switch roles before they search.

SuiteAnswers holds announcements, support articles, videos, help topics, best-practice documents, and the NetSuite knowledge base, which the Help Center does not. Search can use natural language, keywords, an article ID, or quotes around an exact error string. Filters narrow results by content type, product, and audience. NetSuite Expert adds a summarized answer with links to the source articles. A banner about performance or planned maintenance can sit at the top of SuiteAnswers until you close it, and it returns after you log out and back in. That banner is not a substitute for the service-status page.

The Help Center overlaps SuiteAnswers on help topics, videos, and user guides, and then it does jobs SuiteAnswers does not. Help has the table of contents, multi-language content, and context-sensitive help. Field-level help explains the field you are already standing on. User guides are the printable PDF form of Help Center content for selected product areas. Use a user guide when you need a procedure you can follow offline. Use the table of contents when you need to browse a product area in order. Use SuiteAnswers when you need the knowledge base, a best-practice article, a training video, or the self-service path into a case.

Where New Release Notes live on the sample

On the October 2024 sample, users find New Release Notes in SuiteAnswers. That lookup is not user-account provisioning, the end-user license, or that account's File Cabinet usage. Provisioning is an administrator task on the employee record. The license is the commercial agreement. File Cabinet usage is storage you inspect in the account. Current Help also publishes release-note topics in the Help Center. The NetSuite Version 2026.2 topic collects the scheduled upgrade, later minor-release notes, and separate SuiteApp release notes. Release Preparation tells administrators to review the release notes, watch the New Release portlet, and use SuiteAnswers for release news and training. When the other choices are provisioning, the license, or File Cabinet usage, SuiteAnswers is the correct choice.

The Learning Center is the training catalog inside SuiteAnswers. Getting Help describes an on-demand library in the SuiteAnswers Learning Center, plus training and feature videos in the Help Center and the Oracle video hub. Open it when the question is how to learn a feature. Leave it when the question is whether the service is down, or whether NetSuite should build a feature that does not exist yet.

Discussion, ideas, SuiteApps, and service status

The NetSuite User Group is the discussion community. Help points registration to the Oracle NetSuite community, and the site is https://community.oracle.com/community/netsuite. The same community is linked from the NetSuite User Group portlet on the Support tab. You post a question or search messages other people have already written. NetSuite application users and NetSuite employees share experience there. A post is a conversation. It does not create the case number you track in NetSuite 360, and it does not cast a product vote.

SuiteIdeas is where you ask for a feature NetSuite does not have yet. From the Support tab, click Go to SuiteIdeas. You need the NetSuite Support Center role or the NetSuite Support Center (Basic) role. NetSuite's 2025.2 release notes rename those roles NetSuite 360 - Plus Financials and NetSuite 360. Search or browse, open an idea, click Vote for this Idea, rate it, and submit the vote. To propose something new, choose File a New Idea, search for duplicates, then File a New SuiteIdea with a title, product area, feature, and description. After review, other customers can vote, and the idea receives an Enhancement Request number. Leaving SuiteIdeas switches the Support tab to NetSuite 360. Choose Return to Previous Role to go back. Status for enhancements already tied to your account is a different screen, the Enhancements tab in NetSuite 360, which requires a NetSuite 360 role.

SuiteApps are packaged functionality you add to an account. Getting Help for Administrators lists SuiteApp.com as the place to browse and choose SuiteApps to install. The Help Center welcome page separates two catalogs. SuiteApps that NetSuite builds, distributes, and supports are documented in Help. SuiteApps from SuiteCloud Developer Network partners and other third parties are the ones you look up on SuiteApp.com. Use SuiteApp.com when the question is whether a packaged app already exists. Use Help when the question is how to complete a task in the product you already run. Use SuiteIdeas when the question is a change you want in a future version of the core product.

status.netsuite.com is the NetSuite Service Status page. Use it when you cannot open the user interface at system.netsuite.com, or when you suspect an outage, degraded performance, or an unplanned interruption. The page shows current status across data-center regions, request volume and average uptime over a rolling 12-month window updated monthly, and event reports that describe downtime and service notifications. You can subscribe to email or SMS updates for all services or for specific data centers and services, and you can subscribe to a single event. The services listed on the page are:

  • Application UI, the NetSuite user interface
  • SuiteCommerce websites and SuiteCommerce checkout
  • Email infrastructure
  • Asynchronous services, such as ERP processes and SuiteScript processors
  • SuiteTalk, covering SOAP web services, REST web services, and partner integrations
  • SuiteAnalytics Connect, covering ODBC, JDBC, and ADO.NET
  • SuiteAnswers, the self-service support site itself

That list reports whether a channel is up. A how-to question belongs in Help or SuiteAnswers. An outage question belongs on the status page, which you can open when the application UI cannot.

ResourceThe question it answers
SuiteAnswersWhere is the support article, best practice, knowledge-base item, or New Release Notes entry?
SuiteAnswers Learning CenterWhere is the on-demand training for this feature?
Help Center and user guidesWhat are the steps, the field definitions, and the printable procedures?
NetSuite User GroupWhat are other users discussing, and has someone already posted this question?
SuiteIdeasCan I vote for an enhancement or submit an idea for a future product change?
SuiteApp.comWhich packaged SuiteApp can I browse or install, including partner-built apps?
status.netsuite.comIs the service interrupted, slow, or in maintenance right now?

SuiteAnswers can show a maintenance banner and can hold release news. status.netsuite.com is still the page that reports whether the service is up.
