Ceilings without attics (R402.2.2)
Vaulted ceilings, scissor trusses with almost no void, and roof decks with spray foam in a shallow cavity are ceilings without attics. R402.2.2 applies only when all of the following are true:
- Section R402.1.3 requires an insulation R-value greater than R-30 in the interstitial space above the ceiling and below the structural roof deck.
