Complete Connecticut DPH-Approved CNA Training
Complete at least 100 hours of DPH-approved training (CT requires 25 hours more than the federal OBRA 75-hour minimum) including supervised clinical practice.

Patient Care & Safety Skills
Master personal care, vital signs, positioning, transfers, infection control (soap/water for C. diff/norovirus; N95 for TB; contact precautions for MRSA), fire safety (RACE/PASS), and fall prevention.
Clinical Skills & Written Review
Practice all 5 clinical skills (Handwashing and Indirect Care are always scored in CT, plus 3 randomly assigned skills). Review residents' rights under OBRA, MOLST, dementia care, and therapeutic communication.
Can You Take the Connecticut CNA Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Complete a Connecticut DPH-approved CNA training program (minimum 100 hours — 25 hours above the federal OBRA minimum)
- •Must not have a substantiated finding of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation on any state nurse aide registry
- •Must pass both written exam (60 questions, 90 min) AND clinical skills evaluation (5 skills: 3 assigned + mandatory Handwashing and Indirect Care)
- •Register with the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry via DPH after passing
- •Reciprocity available for CNAs on other state registries in good standing
