Breast anatomy, clinical breast exam, benign conditions, screening and special populations, Gail and Tyrer-Cuzick risk models, genetics, navigation, and survivorship surveillance (19% of the CBCN exam).
Phase 2: Diagnosis and Staging
Carcinogenesis, BI-RADS imaging, biopsy methods, pathology and prognostic features, ER/PR/HER2 testing, genomic assays, and AJCC staging studies (21%).
Phase 3: Treatment Modalities
Surgery, reconstruction, radiation, endocrine, HER2-directed, CDK4/6, PARP, immunotherapy, and antibody-drug conjugates, plus TNBC, HER2-positive, IBC, Paget, phyllodes, angiosarcoma, and special populations (24%).
Phase 4: Nursing Practice and Psychosocial Care
Symptom management, lymphedema, oncologic emergencies, clinical trials, professional practice and self-care (24%), then culture, family, body image, sexual health, and distress (12%).
Phase 5: Practice Exams and Review
Take timed CBCN practice tests, including ONCC's free 50-question practice test, and remediate the weakest blueprint domains before exam day.
Can You Take the CBCN Exam?

- •Certification is valid for 4 years; renewal requires 1,000 breast care practice hours within 30 months plus professional development points or retesting

After a failed attempt, candidates may reapply once the current Authorization to Test expires but may not take the exam more than once in a 90-day eligibility period; after three failures within three years, candidates wait one year.
