API API Inspector Certifications License: Complete Roadmap
Follow this path to organize your licensing and exam preparation
Learn the Inspector CoreYou are here
Start with documentation, hold points, safety responsibilities, environmental controls, and qualification expectations so you can reason like an inspector instead of a single-trade specialist.
Master Front-End Work
Review survey stakes, alignment, utility locating, one-call coordination, and right-of-way preparation before moving into installation activities.
Drill Installation Sequences
Spend the largest block on stringing, bending, welding, NDE, trenching, crossings, coating, lowering-in, and tie-ins because this is where the BOK is deepest.
Study Back-End Completion Work
Focus on cathodic protection, as-builts, backfill, buoyancy control, restoration, hydrotesting, and cleaning or drying before the line is accepted.
Finish with Turnover and Mixed Sets
Close with line lists, punch items, turnover packages, and timed mixed-question sets that force you to switch quickly across all five BOK categories.
