About the VA Class A DE Exam
The Virginia Class A Contractor Business Examination is the official designated-employee examination administered by PSI for the Virginia Board for Contractors. Class A is required when a single contract or project is USD 150,000 or more, or when 12-month volume is USD 1 million or more (Code of Virginia § 54.1-1100). The official exam has 98 scored items in three portions: Virginia 24 items in 48 minutes (pass 18), General 50 items in 100 minutes (pass 35), and Advanced 24 items in 60 minutes (pass 17). The three-portion PSI fee is USD 85. The examination is open book. This bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation. It does not replace required trade experience, pre-license education, financial statements or bonds, board approval, or the official examination.
