Try these sample questions to review concepts for the Slovak Bar Examination exam. Each question includes a detailed explanation. Start the interactive quiz above for the full 40+ question experience with AI tutoring.

1An advocate learns an unfiled business plan during a client consultation. The client later hires someone else. What is the starting confidentiality rule?
A.Only documents marked confidential remain protected
B.Facts learned in connection with advocacy remain protected, subject to statutory exceptions
C.Protection ends when the client changes advocate
D.Only information used in court is protected
Explanation: The Slovak Advocacy Act covers facts learned in connection with advocacy, including consultations outside court. Changing representatives does not itself release the advocate; lawful waivers and statutory exceptions require separate consideration.
2An advocate advised a seller on a disputed sale. The buyer now asks the same advocate to challenge that sale against the seller. Which response follows the Slovak statutory conflict rule?
A.Accept if the earlier invoice is paid
B.Accept because the buyer is a new client
C.Accept if litigation has not started
D.Refuse because adverse interests concern the same or a related matter
Explanation: The Advocacy Act requires refusal where earlier services in the same or a related matter were provided to a person with conflicting interests. Closing the earlier file does not remove that conflict.
3An advocate's lawful withdrawal reaches the client today. An urgent filing is due tomorrow; the client has neither arranged other protection nor released the advocate. What applies?
A.Every aspect of representation must continue until final judgment
B.All duties ended on delivery
C.Urgent acts remain required during the statutory 15-day protection period
D.Only returning the file is required
Explanation: The Advocacy Act requires urgent acts for 15 days after delivery of the withdrawal notice if the client has not made other arrangements. This transitional duty protects rights without extending the entire mandate indefinitely.
4A client gives a written confidentiality waiver, but the advocate concludes that the waiver is detrimental to that client. No separate disclosure exception applies. What follows under the Advocacy Act?
A.Confidentiality must be preserved despite the waiver
B.A written waiver always compels disclosure
C.Disclosure is permitted if it would advance the current client's litigation position despite being detrimental overall
D.The safeguard concerns only oral waivers, so a written waiver removes it
Explanation: The Act preserves confidentiality after a waiver if the advocate considers the waiver detrimental to the client. Written form does not eliminate this additional protection.
5Where no special limitation rule applies, what is the general period under the Slovak Civil Code?
A.Two years from contract signature
B.Three years from when the right could first be exercised
C.Four years from the first reminder
D.Ten years from the debtor's refusal
Explanation: The general Civil Code period is three years from when the right could first be exercised. Identify the claim before applying it because special rules can change both duration and commencement.
6A Civil Code claim concerns ordinary negligent property damage, with no corruption or bodily-injury issue. Which limitation framework is the starting point?
A.Only three years from learning the wrongdoer's identity
B.Two years from the event without any knowledge test
C.Ten years from discovering negligent damage
D.Two years from learning of the damage and responsible person, subject to the three-year objective limit
Explanation: For the stated claim, the subjective period is two years from knowledge of the damage and responsible person. The objective limit is three years from the damaging event; intentional damage and bodily injury require different analysis.
7A contract falls within a statutory ground of relative invalidity (relatívna neplatnosť). What distinguishes it from absolute invalidity?
A.It is treated as valid until the protected person invokes invalidity
B.The court must disregard it without an objection
C.It has no legal effect until the protected person expressly ratifies it
D.The defect can be asserted only by the person who caused it
Explanation: For the listed relative-invalidity grounds, the Civil Code treats the act as valid unless the protected person invokes the defect. Absolute invalidity does not depend on that person's election.
8A creditor says every obligation mentioned in a notarial deed automatically receives the Civil Code's ten-year acknowledgment period. Which check is decisive?
A.Whether the creditor's own assertion of the debt was recorded in the deed
B.Whether any reference to a legal relationship appears in the deed, even without a specified amount
C.Whether the debtor acknowledged the debt in writing as to ground and amount
D.Whether the deed merely records that settlement negotiations occurred
Explanation: Qualifying written acknowledgment requires the debt's ground and amount, rather than a mere mention in notarial form. Commencement also depends on whether the acknowledgment specifies a performance deadline.
9An appealable first-instance civil judgment contains correct appeal instructions. What is the ordinary CSP appeal period?
A.Eight days from oral pronouncement
B.Thirty days from finality
C.Two months from service
D.Fifteen days from delivery of the decision
Explanation: The ordinary CSP period is 15 days from delivery of the decision. Incorrect instructions and corrective orders can have special consequences, excluded by the question's facts.
10In an ordinary CSP dispute, a party could have submitted evidence earlier with due care. Considering it now would require another hearing. What does judicial concentration allow?
A.Mandatory acceptance whenever evidence is relevant
B.Disregard of late material, with reasons in the merits decision
C.Automatic dismissal of the entire lawsuit
D.Transfer to non-contentious proceedings
Explanation: Judicial concentration allows disregard of material not presented in time, particularly if considering it requires another hearing or other court acts. The court must explain the refusal; statutory concentration has a separate closing point at the end of evidence-taking.

Does this simulate the official examination?

No. This is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation. SAK's test uses three options, and written drafting and oral performance require separate practice.

Who may apply?

Applicants must satisfy the Advocacy Act and SAK requirements, including a qualifying law degree, at least three years of qualifying trainee practice, prescribed education and application records. Recognition and credited-practice routes must be checked individually.

What language should I prepare for?

SAK's published examination materials are in Slovak. This English study resource does not establish an official English sitting or translation; confirm any language arrangements directly with SAK.

Are the practice topic counts official weights?

No numerical official test weights were identified. This focused bank samples the ten subjects in SAK's test regulations equally and does not cover every examinable issue.
