The official subject set combines Quran, Tafsir, Tawheed, Hadith and school-specific Fiqh; Arabic language and literature; English and French; and division-specific sciences, mathematics, statistics, geography, and history. Official models are primarily Arabic, with English and French language papers and English-language versions of science and mathematics papers. They combine objective and substantial constructed-response work. This English-language four-option bank preserves essential Arabic terms and text but is only a concept-study adaptation—not an official translation, reproduction, or format simulation, and not a substitute for Arabic writing, translation, or extended-response practice.

Al-Azhar Thanaweya Study Tips from Top Performers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Al-Azhar Thanaweya and who takes it?
The Al-Azhar Thanaweya (الشهادة الثانوية الأزهرية) is the official secondary leaving examination for students enrolled in Al-Azhar institutes. The Al-Azhar Institutes Sector administered the 2025/2026 diet to 163,677 registered candidates across Scientific and Literary divisions.
How does Al-Azhar Thanaweya differ from general Thanaweya Amma?
Unlike the Ministry of Education's Thanaweya Amma, Al-Azhar Thanaweya adds an extensive curriculum of Islamic religious disciplines (Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsir, Tawheed) and classical Arabic linguistics (Nahw, Sarf, Balagha, Adab) alongside science, mathematics, or humanities subjects.
What are the divisions and subjects in Al-Azhar Thanaweya?
The two principal divisions are Scientific (القسم العلمي) and Literary (القسم الأدبي). Both include Sharia and Arabic papers plus foreign languages; Scientific adds biology, physics, chemistry, pure mathematics, and applied mathematics, while Literary adds statistics, geography, history, and additional Arabic composition.
What is the examination format and schedule?
Al-Azhar uses subject-specific written booklets. Current official models combine objective questions with short and extended constructed responses; English also includes rewriting, dialogue, translation, and composition. In 2025/2026, first-round papers ran from 6 June to 9 July and second-round papers from 18 to 27 August.
Does one published cutoff apply to every Al-Azhar paper?
The reviewed current Al-Azhar booklet, timetable, and result pages do not publish one universal percentage cutoff for every paper. Candidates should use the active annual rules and official result portal rather than inferred faculty-admission ranges. The reported 2025/2026 first-round overall pass rate was 54.18%.
Is this practice bank an official Al-Azhar exam simulation?
No. It is an original English-language four-option study adaptation. Official papers are primarily Arabic, alongside English and French language papers and English-language science/mathematics versions, and include substantial constructed-response work. This bank is not an official translation, reproduction, or format simulation.
