Searching for a "Qiyas exam" can send you toward the wrong test, the wrong language, or even a commercial website that looks official. Qiyas is the National Center for Assessment under Saudi Arabia's Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC); it is not the name of one single exam. This guide is specifically about the secondary-school General Aptitude Test (GAT) used for higher-education admission, commonly called Qudurat or اختبار القدرات العامة. It is not the Tahsili achievement test, the postgraduate aptitude test, STEP English-proficiency test, cognitive ability test, or a professional-license exam.

That distinction controls every later decision. A booking for GAT in Arabic is not automatically an English-language GAT booking. A digital appointment is not a paper admission ticket. A GAT result is not your university's final weighted admission score. And a second booking consumes an eligible attempt even if it was made only because an unofficial page promised that every candidate receives unlimited retakes.

This 2026 workflow uses ETEC and Saudi government sources checked on July 21, 2026. ETEC changes testing windows, available centers, fees, and account eligibility inside the live registration system. First: identify the exact Qiyas test you need

ETEC's current National Center for Assessment page describes Qiyas as a center that operates standardized assessments. Its current Mustaqbalhum page defines the General Aptitude Test as measuring learning-related analytical and reasoning abilities for high-school graduates seeking higher education. A recent ETEC terminology guide more specifically describes verbal and quantitative abilities, including analytical, deductive, and inferential reasoning.

Use this test-name check before opening the appointment calendar:

If an admissions page says "Qudurat" or "General Aptitude Test" beside high-school and Tahsili scores, it normally means the secondary-school GAT. If it says "General Aptitude Test for University Graduates," do not shorten the name and book the undergraduate product. Save the exact Arabic and English wording from your university's admission guide, then match it inside your Qiyas profile.

Arabic versus English GAT: language is part of the booking

Candidates often use "English GAT" to mean three different things: taking GAT in English, taking STEP, or applying to an English-medium university program. They are not interchangeable.

The GAT measures verbal and quantitative reasoning. The language selection therefore changes the verbal material you will read and the preparation resources you need. STEP measures English proficiency and has a different purpose and result. An English-medium degree may require GAT plus a separate STEP, IELTS, TOEFL, or other language score; the university decides.

ETEC's current public FAQ confirms that the General Aptitude Test is administered in both paper-based and digital formats, but it does not promise that every language, track, center, or date is available in both formats. Treat the live product label as the controlling instruction:

1. read the full test name, not just the GAT abbreviation;
2. confirm the displayed language before choosing a center;
3. confirm whether the appointment is paper-based or digital;
4. check that your school track and personal data are current; and
5. save the final registration notice showing test, language, format, center, date, and time.

Do not assume that an Arabic paper window proves an English seat exists on the same dates. Do not assume that practicing an English quantitative set prepares you for Arabic verbal questions. If your target university accepts either language version, ask the university whether it imports both in the same way; ETEC administers the test, but the institution owns its admission policy.

Use only the official Qiyas registration route

Start at ETEC's official Exams Registration Platform or follow the registration link from an etec.gov.sa page. The Saudi National Platform also lists official services for digital test registration and paper-based test registration.

This matters in 2026 because a search for Qiyas can surface qiyas.sa, which currently advertises courses, instructors, lifetime access, and WhatsApp sales. Whatever the domain's history, it is not the ETEC examination account named in the Commission's current official links. Never enter a national ID, Iqama number, Nafath credentials, card details, or a one-time code into a page merely because its logo or title says Qiyas.

Registration checklist

Inside the official account, use this sequence:

1. Sign in and verify identity. Use the account method offered to your candidate type, including Nafath where available. Resolve a name, ID, birth-date, nationality, or school-record mismatch before buying a seat.

ETEC's current FAQ confirms both formats but does not say that one produces an easier score. The testing regulation protects standardized administration across paper and electronic forms. Choose the environment in which you can execute reliably and still meet your admission calendar.

The result-timing row is a planning range, not a guarantee. ETEC's official July 2025 support response said digital results are announced in 2–7 working days, with Sunday through Thursday counted as working days. Paper results are commonly released by administration rather than on each candidate's personal rolling clock. Always build a buffer for review, holidays, data transfer, and the university's own import deadline.

Format should also shape practice. Digital candidates should rehearse on screen, including navigation and sustained reading without writing on the display. Paper candidates should practice answer transfer, page handling, and clean marking. Both candidates need the same underlying verbal and quantitative reasoning; neither should spend study time memorizing a rumored "easier version."

Reschedule or cancel before the correct cutoff

ETEC's FAQ and the Saudi National Platform's current digital rescheduling service give two different cutoffs:

• paper-based test: no later than 72 hours before the appointment; and
• digital test: no later than 48 hours before the appointment.

These are latest-action boundaries, not recommended planning times. If a university deadline, illness, travel conflict, or preparation problem is already clear, act earlier while alternative seats remain. In your profile, open Registered Tests, select the appointment, choose Modify or the available cancellation action, review the old and new details, and confirm. Save the updated notice; seeing a new calendar does not prove the modification was finalized.

The current official paper date-modification service and digital service describe changes after payment. Refund, credit-balance, or additional-payment treatment can depend on the transaction and registration period shown in the account. Read the final financial screen rather than assuming "cancel" means cash immediately returns to the original card.

If the change control is missing before the cutoff, capture the screen and contact ETEC promptly. Its current support page lists 19925, the EtecCare account, and the electronic support portal. Include the test name, appointment, account identifier, error text, and screenshot, but never post identity numbers or payment data publicly.

Exam-day identity and conduct

The current ETEC FAQ says accepted admission documents include a Saudi national ID for citizens or residence permit for non-Saudis, a valid personal passport, or a Saudi driving license. The current ETEC Test Organization Regulation also requires original identification or official digital identity, attendance at the assigned time, accurate registration data, and compliance with section timing and test instructions.

Follow the stricter instruction on your registration notice. Bring the physical document when practical even if an official digital identity may be accepted, because a dead battery, app outage, or connectivity problem is avoidable. Confirm that the document is valid and that its name matches the account.

The regulation prohibits bringing or using calculators and mobile phones in the testing room, along with cameras and recording equipment. It also prohibits copying, recording, photographing, or disclosing test content. A social-media "recall file" can therefore create an exam-security problem, not just a weak study habit. Prepare with original skill practice instead of soliciting protected questions.

Results: retrieve the right record and preserve your deadline

Use the official Results Inquiry service or Results area of your Qiyas account. Select the exact General Aptitude Test result and inspect its details. Do not use a screenshot from an unofficial result calculator as evidence for admission.

Before a university deadline, verify four things:

1. the result belongs to the correct GAT product and language version;
2. your identity and score appear correctly in the official account;
3. the university can retrieve or has received the score under the same identity; and
4. the result will still be valid on the institution's required date.

ETEC's current FAQ says a General Aptitude Test result is valid for five years from the test date. That does not force every university to accept a score for the entire five-year span under every admission track. A university may impose a more recent high-school graduation rule, an application-cycle cutoff, or another program requirement. If the score record appears incorrect, preserve the result notice and act quickly. The Saudi National Platform's test-result objection service states that a beneficiary may submit an objection within 60 days of the result announcement. An objection is a formal review route, not a method for asking ETEC to round a score upward.

What a Qudurat score actually means for admission

A GAT score is one input, not a national pass/fail admission decision. ETEC's 2025 terminology guide defines student admission scores as weighted percentages determined by higher-education institutions using high-school performance, GAT, and Achievement Test results. Institutions and programs can use different weights, minimums, English requirements, interviews, capacity limits, and competition rules.

Two current 1448 AH examples show why a raw GAT target needs an institution name:

• Shaqra University publishes 30% high-school GPA, 30% GAT, and 40% Tahsili for its composite score.
• KFUPM's 2026 undergraduate secondary-vacancies track publishes 10% high school, 50% GAT, and 40% Tahsili, plus a separate English-language requirement.

Suppose a candidate has 92 in high school, 84 GAT, and 78 Tahsili. Under Shaqra's published formula, the composite is 92 × 0.30 + 84 × 0.30 + 78 × 0.40 = 84.0. Under the named KFUPM vacancies track, it is 92 × 0.10 + 84 × 0.50 + 78 × 0.40 = 82.4. The same three records produce different composites because the weights differ.

This also quantifies a retake. Raising GAT from 84 to 90 adds 1.8 composite points when GAT weighs 30%, but 3.0 points when it weighs 50%. Whether that gain is worth another attempt depends on your current composite, realistic score improvement, remaining attempts, available seat, result buffer, and the competitiveness of the exact program—not on a generic post calling 80 "good."

Retake workflow for 2026

ETEC support's September 2025 update reported alongside the paper registration announcement set five General Aptitude Test opportunities at most, flexibly distributed between paper and digital, and allowed all five to be digital. Older guides still describe the previous four-digital cap or different Arabic-versus-English allocations.
