Can You Take the Washington CNA Exam?

Standard applicants complete a Washington state-approved nursing assistant training program with at least 108 hours: 35 classroom/theory, 33 skills lab, and 40 facility/clinical.
Experience
Other routes include nursing student/graduate, military nursing assistant, out-of-state training, lapsed credential, bridge program, older training, OBRA reactivation, or closed training program review.
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates are expected to pass the skills test before registering for the written/oral knowledge test.
  • Both skills and written/oral knowledge parts must be passed for certification consideration.
  • Applicants may need a DOH Credentialing application and Authorization to Test depending on eligibility route.
  • Candidates must enter the correct NAC credential number in Credentia to avoid processing delays.
  • NARs employed in a nursing home have four months to complete approved training and testing for certification.
