Can You Take the NICET FAS-III Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •NICET Level III certification requires passing the Level I, II, and III examinations and meeting all lower-level requirements.
- •Level III requires supervisor-verified performance measures for Levels I, II, and III (13 Level III measures, 0303-5102 through 0303-5117).
- •Level III requires a personal recommendation. NICET accepts recommendations from licensed professional engineers and NICET Level IV technicians, and also from other qualified professionals such as architects, fire marshals, code officials, or other AHJ officials. The recommender cannot be a verifier, relative, peer, or subordinate.
- •Certification is valid for three years and is recertified by documenting 90 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points drawn from two or more CPD categories.

Retake Policy
Candidates who do not pass may reschedule after a 30-day period has elapsed. Retesting is limited to a maximum of three attempts in any 12-month span. A new application fee applies to each attempt.

Based on the official National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) content outline
Supervise fire alarm projects, compile as-builts and close-out documents, and oversee system commissioning (NICET Level III content outline 3.1).
Manage periodic inspection and testing, resolve impairments and deficiencies, and prepare documentation and records (NICET Level III content outline 3.2).
Prepare and approve fire alarm shop drawings, including occupancy-driven device layout and spacing, audibility and visibility design, and power and battery calculations (NICET Level III content outline 3.3).
Supervise work activities and supervise team members, including scheduling, contractual obligations, technical communication with AHJs, mentoring, and the NICET Code of Ethics (NICET Level III content outline 3.4).
