Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (Malaysian Examinations Council) content outline
Seven parts, ten texts and 40 questions in 75 minutes: multiple matching, three- and four-option MCQs and a gapped text testing main ideas, specific information, inferencing, fact vs opinion, the writer's attitude, cause and effect, and comparison across texts.
Five parts, seven texts and 30 questions in about 50 minutes: dialogues and monologues with three-option MCQs and a multiple-matching task assessing understanding of main ideas, specific information, speaker attitude and implied meaning. Each text is played twice.
Two tasks in 75 minutes: Task 1 a guided letter or email of at least 100 words, and Task 2 an essay of at least 250 words, assessed on register, accuracy, organisation, cohesion and the ability to express and justify ideas.
Two parts in about 30 minutes: an individual presentation (2 minutes prepare, 2 minutes speak) and a group discussion of 8 to 12 minutes, assessed on accuracy, range, fluency, and interaction skills such as turn-taking, justifying and reaching consensus.
