Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official PSI Services LLC content outline
Evaluates the ability to assess passage coherence, logical sequence, transitions, topic sentences, relevance of supporting details, and effective combination or reorganization of sentences.
Tests word choice, precision, tone, style, clarity, conciseness, active vs. passive voice, and the ability to select the most appropriate and effective language for a given context.
Covers grammar rules including subject-verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent agreement, verb tense, parallel structure, modifier placement, and punctuation (commas, semicolons, apostrophes, capitalization).
Test takers read a pair of texts and then write an argumentative response. Rated on the official 6-point scale (1–6); a minimum essay score of 2 is required to pass the subtest. This component is not included in the MCQ practice bank.
All multiple-choice questions present passages with underlined or numbered portions for test takers to identify errors or select the most effective revision — no blank-slate writing is required on the MCQ section.
Includes punctuation rules (comma usage, semicolons, apostrophes), capitalization, sentence boundary recognition (fragments, run-ons, comma splices), and standard English usage rules.
